Eligible Entity Types:

Ownership Requirements:

Business Corporations:

  • Officers and directors need not be licensed, but the corporation must appoint a Nevada licensed individual to be responsible for all professional activities undertaken by the firm in Nevada.

Professional Corporations:

  • All shareholders, officers, and directors must be licensed in a profession practiced by the PC.

Limited Liability Companies:

  • Members and managers need not be licensed, but the LLC must appoint a Nevada licensed individual to be responsible for all professional activities undertaken by the firm in Nevada.

Professional Limited Liability Companies:

  • All members and managers must be licensed in a profession practiced by the PLLC.

Partnerships:

  • Partners need not be licensed, but the partnership must appoint a Nevada licensed individual to be responsible for all professional activities undertaken by the firm in Nevada.

If successful, contact person will be automatically emailed with the Certification of Registration. If there is a question with the application up to 2 months if board deliberation is required.

Before you Apply:

Domestic Applicants:

  • Identify a Nevada licensed professional, who is a full-time employee, to be in responsible charge of the firm's engineering or land surveying activities. If the firm maintains multiple office locations in Nevada, a separate responsible individual must be appointed for each office location.
  • Ensure that your business entity will meet ownership requirements.

Foreign Applicants:

  • Identify a Nevada licensed professional, who is a full-time employee, to be in responsible charge of the firm's engineering or land surveying activities. If the firm maintains multiple office locations in Nevada, a separate responsible individual must be appointed for each office location.
  • Ensure that your Nevada entity will meet ownership requirements.
  • If a corporation, obtain certified copies of your articles of incorporation, and certified copies of all amendments to file during the foreign qualification process. These documents must be dated within 90 days of the time of submitting your foreign qualification documents.
How to Apply:

Domestic Applicants:

  1. If your firm name contains some form of the word "engineer", first file a Corporate Name Request with the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
  2. File entity formation documents with the Nevada Secretary of State.
  3. File a Firm Registration Application with the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.

Foreign Applicants:

  1. Determine whether or not your entity will need to foreign qualify in Nevada. If not required, skip to number 4.
  2. If your firm name contains some form of the word "engineer", first file a Corporate Name Request with the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
  3. File foreign qualification documents with the Nevada Secretary of State.
  4. File a Firm Registration Application with the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Required Attachments:

Foreign Qualification - YES, if transacting business in the state.
Ownership/ Entity:

  • If your firm name contains some form of the word "engineer", first file a Corporate Name Request with the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
  • List the name of up to three owners, officers, or top-level managers of the firm

Qualified Party:

  • Name and license number of the full-time Nevada licensed professional to be in responsible charge of the firm's engineering or land surveying activities. If the firm maintains multiple office locations in Nevada, a separate responsible individual must be appointed for each office location.

10. A licensee with responsible charge of the work contained in a document described in subsection 8 may have an electronically prepared seal and signature applied to such a document which is electronically submitted, released or issued only if:

(a) The files containing the document are locked electronically to prevent any changes to the document;

(b) Secure encryption methods are in place to prevent the copying, transferring or removing of the seal and signature and to prevent changes to any electronic drawings after the document is submitted, released or issued;

(c) The electronic signature is applied by the licensee in responsible charge of the work; and

(d) The licensee believes adequate protections are in place to prevent fraud or misuse of the electronic signature.
