How to Apply:

Domestic Applicants:

  1. File entity formation documents with the Nevada Secretary of State.
  2. Submit a Charitable Solicitation Registration Statement in conjunction with your initial list of officers filing to the Nevada Secretary of State.

Foreign Applicants:

  1. Determine whether or not your charity will need to foreign qualify based on your activity in Nevada. If not required, skip to number 3.
  2. File foreign qualification documents with the Nevada Secretary of State.
  3. Submit a Charitable Solicitation Registration Statement in conjunction with your initial list of officers filing to the Nevada Secretary of State.

Notes:

Solicitation registration is a new requirement effective January 1, 2014. You must file this attachment if your nonprofit will solicit donations in Nevada.

You can file for an exemption from obtaining a Nevada business license only after obtaining 501(c) recognition. Most new nonprofits will need to apply for a business license and pay the non-refundable $200 licensing fee in their first year. When you renew the following year, you can file for exemption if you obtained 501(c) recognition.

Your canceled check constitutes a certificate to transact business.
